February 2026 brought a further decline in milk prices in Poland. The average purchase price reached PLN 1.86 per liter, which represents a decrease both month-to-month and year-on-year.
Month-to-month decline (m/m)
Compared to January 2026 (PLN 1.89/l), the milk price decreased by 3 grosz per liter.Although the change is not large, it confirms a slight market cooling at the beginning of the year.
Significant year-on-year decline (r/r)
The annual comparison shows a much more noticeable change. In February 2025, the average milk price was PLN 2.27/l,which means a drop of as much as 41 grosz per liter..
➡️ This clearly shows a market correction after a period of high prices in previous years.
Regional differences – where is milk the most expensive?
In February 2026, significant differences between regions are still visible:
- Highest price: Podlaskie PLN 2.03/l
- Lowest price: Świętokrzyskie PLN 1.71/l
The difference amounts to 32 grosz per liter, which has a real impact on production profitability depending on the region.
For comparison, in January:
- the highest price was also in Podlaskie(PLN 2.02/l))
- the lowest in Pomorskie(PLN 1.75/l))

What is driving the decline in milk prices?
Several factors are influencing the current situation:
- increased milk supply in the EU
- market stabilization after previous price increases
- pricing pressure from dairy processors
What does this mean for the farmer?
Falling milk prices mean one thing:
👉 you need to control costs and efficiency even more closely
Key focus areas:
- cow health and fewer issues (e.g. diarrhea, ketosis, lameness)
- better feed efficiency
- stable production without drops in milk yield
💡 In practice: every additional liter of milk and every saving in the herd matter more today than they did a year ago.
